Nylon is the most common carpet material simply because it is durable, versatile, wear-resistant and easy to clean. As a great fibre choice for all areas of the home, it’s the strongest fibre for heavy-traffic areas. Nylon carpets are also the most durable of the synthetics, easy to clean and maintain.
Exceptionally soft, stain-resistant, & easy to clean. Polyester is not as resilient as nylon but it comes with a variety of textures & colours. Polyester is a good repellent to water-based stains because the material has a low absorbency and durable colours, you can wipe a lot of spills right off from it.
Triexta is a newer carpet type for flooring. It is noted for its durability and stain-resistance. It’s another good carpet option for households with great wear and tear resistance. Triexta is a synthetic polymer partially derived in large part from corn sugar, making this an environmentally friendly option when making a carpet selection.
It is treated with chemicals to become stain-resistant and is less expensive than nylon. Also, used to make artificial grass carpets, polypropylene is resilient, has low abrasion tolerance and low melting point. It is far less expensive but it doesn’t last as long as other fibres but it can be a good choice for outdoors and in damp basements.
It is the most commonly used natural fibre in carpeting. Natural fibres such as wool have several key differences from synthetics. Wool carpet has superior wear and it is also naturally fire retardant and self-extinguishing. Wool has its own demand in the marketplace due to its resilient and stain-resistant nature.
With this information, you can choose a carpet that best fits your lifestyle and remains beautiful for years to come. In addition, choose a texture and fibre combination, which is most appropriate for your home.
